Mario A. Martinez


Mario A. Martinez has nearly 35 years’ experience in the Texas governmental and political arenas, having cut his teeth as a legislative aide to former State Representative Tom Uher in 1975. After nearly 10 years with Uher, the last four as Chief of Staff, Martinez went on to hone his legislative skills as Governmental Affairs Director for the 2,000-member Texas State Troopers Association for more than a decade.  In 1996, he established Martinez & Associates with his wife, Louann, and continued to forge strong relationships with key lawmakers and policymakers that eventually led to independent governmental relations consulting.
 
Mario has represented major industries in some of the most challenging and contentious issues debated by the Texas Legislature during the last decade.  Current clients include the city of Brownsville, which he has represented on a slate of general municipal issues concerning annexation, property taxes, transportation, public safety and water development; the Port of Brownsville, along with the Justice of the Peace and Constables Association, and Texas Municipal Police Association.

 
Mario is respected by lawmakers and members of the lobby alike for the expertise he has garnered during his extensive tour of legislative duty and the consistently principled manner in which he conducts business on behalf of his clients. Additional clients represented are: Texas Independent Automobile Dealers Association, Texas Consumer Lenders, and Law firm of Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson, LLP, along with various other interests.

Mario A. Martinez is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University.
